Newmachar Community Centre Project

Managed by:

Newmachar Community Hall Association

Project Description

The project is to build a modern multi-purpose community centre in the growing village of Newmachar.  It will replace the outdated hall and provide the expanding community with a much needed new facility.

Features will include a large sports hall, a community café, a youth club and various multi purpose rooms designed to present a number of options for different user groups.  Sport, drama, music and other hobbies will all be accommodated, and rooms will be available to hire for meetings, conferences, functions or courses.

The project has been community driven.  Residents of Newmachar currently have to travel to other areas in order to access facilities and with a large increase in population forecast there is a desperate requirement for such facilities in the community.

Quote from Participating Organisation

Graham Geddes, Newmachar Community Hall Association Chairman

Newmachar Community Hall Association is delighted that LEADER has made such a significant contribution towards a project which will benefit the wider community and address key needs in one of Aberdeenshire's fastest growing areas.

We have been inspired by the support from the local community for a facility that is desperately needed and the LEADER grant makes a huge contribution towards the funds required to make this project a reality.  We would like to express our thanks to LEADER for sharing our vision for a new community centre for Newmachar and for providing this practical support.
