Planning Proposal - Udny Community Wind Turbine

Managed by:

Udny Community Wind Turbine Company Ltd

Project Description

Udny Community Council set up the Wind Turbine Group to explore feasibility and funding opportunities for a community owned single 800kw wind turbine at Udny.  The application relates to the preparation of a full planning proposal.  Funding for the turbine is being sourced through the Big Lottery.  A significant level of community consultation has been undertaken and if planning is obtained, income from the wind turbine will be recycled back into the community.

Quote from Participating Organisation

Garth Entwistle, Chair, Udny Community Wind Turbine Company Ltd:

"The Udny Community Wind Turbine Company is very pleased to have received this LEADER grant.  Without it we would not have been able to progress our plans to build a community-owned wind turbine in the parish of Udny.  This turbine will bring great benefits to the Udny community.  It will help us improve the quality of life in and around Udny, reduce our carbon footprints and add a lot to what the community wants to do.  We have a lot of plans."
