Managed by:

North East Scotland Preservation Trust (NESPT)

Project Description

NESPT is a building trust operating in Aberdeenshire  which acquires and restores buildings of architectural and historic interest which are neglected or at risk.

NESPT owns the B listed complex of 19th Century Ropery and Cottages at Back Green Portsoy and the project is to commission an Options Appraisal Report for the buildings with a view to supporting future funding applications to develop the properties for future use.  Part of the research will involve community consultation to gauge local interest and opinion for future uses which could include commercial, community or housing etc.

Quote from Participating Organisation

Paul Higson, Project Manager, North East Scotland Preservation Trust

"The North East Scotland Preservation Trust owns some derelict, B Listed buildings in a spectacular setting in Portsoy.  The buildings appear on the Buildings at Risk Register and it is vital that the Trust finds a viable means of saving the buildings and restoring them.  To achieve this an Options Appraisal needs to be carried out by independent, specialist professionals.  Thanks to the LEADER grant funding the Trust can know proceed to commission the Appraisal.  If a viable new use for the buildings emerges the Trust will embark on what is likely to be its biggest project ever."
